Nice zing against the wretched, incompetent Bears for getting rid of Robbie Gould, who rarely missed & replacing him with a placekicking cast of nobodies that can’t hit the side of a barn!

It’d be hard to tell if the kicker hit the post on accident or on purpose though.

You know…. when a tennis ball hits even the outside of the line it’s considered IN, so I’m actually liking this idea!

How about adding 2 points if you can hit the upright and bounce it back through the goal post (I’ve seen it done once and it took a replay for the refs to figure out if it was good or not if I recall the play correctly).

I’ve never seen a kicker doink one off the upright and then quote Pee Wee Herman, “I meant to do that.”

If you want to make the game REALLY interesting, how about a Wheel of Misfortune? If a team commits a foul, the coach of the opposing team spins a big wheel to decide what the penalty is (instead of 5 yards for offsides, etc.) You can even have a “bankrupt” slot where the offending team loses all (or some) of the points already scored or even go into the hole. (Score -6 to 15).

Nick Saban at Alabama might like to try this in the NCAA.

I have always thought about that! What about attempted basketball 3-pointers hitting the rim?

How about a third pole in the center – hit that and the value of the play doubles? Hit it from beyond 40 yards and it triples?

The purpose of the game is for the TEAM to get the ball to the goal line. How ’bout we quit rewarding them for having a single player who can kick well from a distance. 3 points for a field goal inside the 20, 2 points for a field goal 20-30, 1 point for a field goal outside the 30. 5, 3, and 2 points, respectively, for hitting the upright IF the kicker calls it first (no penalty for missing the upright).
