Really tough day yesterday, it was Craig’s birthday. I took the dogs to one of his favorite secluded canyons where he liked to read and relax when he could no longer hike, and spread some ashes. I couldn’t wait for the day to be over. Today is my birthday, I just plan to work in the garden and do some sewing when it gets hot, but I tried to make his special. I did move a rattler off the road, that would have made him happy.
Wherever I worked, I usually made friends with the maintenance people. They can be some of the more important people in a company…..and especially these days.
I am retired now, but I always used to befriend the custodians and I do the same in my condo building. I learn a lot from them. They are so helpful and have gone out of their way for me so many times, I am so grateful.
On the subject of the importance of people who clean, I always think of HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY where the human race is wiped out when all the people who sanitize public phones are fired. This was pre-cell phone, of course.
I wonder if I paid that little one in catnip and kibbles if it would come clean for me a little bit? I am getting tired of wiping down door knobs, car keys, etc. etc. etc.
I’ve also always been friendly with janitors & cleaners where I worked or shopped. I just did it, but I often got a lot in return. They would clean things for me that they were not required to & didn’t do for others. When I worked, my philosophy was we all worked for the same company & therefore were more or less equal. Well, I did consider the big bosses as more important. I never understood why some people are so looked down on when doing jobs nobody else wants to do.
Kudos to everyone keeping all those nasty germs at bay! Germs are the last thing we need now. On another note, saw a pileated woodpecker and a robin while out walking today.

Yes! Thank you to the unsung heroes in the hospitals…..the janitors!

I got out early (for me, 8AM) to walk. It was 84 by the time I got back 45 minutes later. Either I’m gonna have to walk less, faster or leave at 5AM.
The Heat Is On!

Janitors, maids & cleaning people are often taken for granted. They need to be appreciated more even when we’re not under a pandemic.

Mmm. Haven’t made a leg of lamb in years, with all the old folks gone and smaller holiday gatherings.

All kudos to my wonderful sister-in-law, who works as a cleaner in our hospital here in Barrie. She is a truly beautiful person, inside and our.
