What a golden opportunity for the other cats to get Chesney! They can’t pass that up, now, can they? Maybe hit him in the face with pie or throw water balloons at him. Much fun to be had at Chesney’s expense!
I heard more yesterday about the looting in my Walmart. I heard the looters came in 2 separate groups. They still did not get a lot and it could have been much worse than it was. I heard now they made off with 3 or 4 TV’s (not just one like I heard on Sunday), a few other electronic items and a little clothing. The real head scratcher is the fact someone took a lawn chair and the one that’s almost funny is that someone stole a bag of potato chips. Seriously? Someone risks getting arrested over a bag of potato chips? I don’t know how hard police are working to find out who broke in, but I sort of suspect they won’t try at all as the riots and demonstrations are still going on. I also heard yesterday that the Target store which is not far from my Walmart was also hit, but I don’t know how bad it was. I can tell you, it’s very unsettling to see our windows boarded up and the barricades being put up in front of our doors after the store closes. Big stacks of pallets and pallets full of cases of water completely block the front entrance and exit doors. Associates working past 9:00 pm (as I did Monday night) have to exit through a fire door in back of the store. I don’t know how the managers get out after the rest of us leave. The fire door has to be latched from the inside. I don’t know how much longer we’ll need to barricade the doors at night. I can’t even describe how this all makes me feel. I guess I feel violated. And I feel less safe than ever before. I’ve always known that violence could hit our store, but I never really thought it would. Now it has and it’s sort of hard to come to terms with what happened and to get over the feeling of sadness and despair that has come over me. Time heals all wounds, I guess and I guess this feeling will eventually go away and I’ll be able to put it behind me. Soon, I hope.
This video, posted in yesterday’s comments shows something like what we are doing, but at the store in the video, they have pallets of merchandise outside while we have it all inside our doors. And we have shopping carts filling in the space between the 2 sets of doors. If people get past the first set of doors and over the rows of shopping carts, they run into the next set of doors with all the pallets of water (or just stacks of pallets like you see in the windows of the store in the video.
Ooh, Chesney, the other nine kitties (well, maybe not Oliver and Woof) are going to have so much fun with you!!! That’ll teach you not to try to be so smart!!
What will he do if Mimieux drops by? She will not be impressed. I cancelled my appointments in Bishop today, there is already bickering among several groups with different agendas that threaten to turn it into more than a peaceful protest, plus to danger of outside trouble makers.
Blackjack loves whipped cream. Somehow he just knows when I get the can from the fridge. Last night, while he was sound asleep on the bed, I opened the fridge, got the can out and then a little bowl for my jello. I turned around and there he was….just sitting there. I was SO quiet; how does he do that?? I hadn’t even spritzed the whipped cream yet.
I am so sorry: peaceful protesters’ concerns and meanings become obscured with these aggressive actions… But we have to look at the sunshine of the fact that so many really concerned people have come together to express the need for change….
FOXES. According the wildlife experts, American foxes, unlike their larger British cousins, won’t attack cats and small dogs. Yesterday, I spotted a huge cat with its hair poofed up in fear on a window ledge so I looked downward. A fox was below it with a good chance at taking it off the ledge. I went outside to scare away the fox, and the stupid cat jumped down toward the fox. As they disappeared in to the woods, the fox was almost to its rear so the outcome probably wasn’t good even though the cat was half-again the size of the fox. Those with outdoor cats and foxes in the area may want to rethink the status of their pets.
My cat chases the foxes out of HIS yard! Fortunately, the foxes are just looking for small animals to feed to their babies and have no interest in fighting!
Oh dear, looks like Chesney didn’t see this coming. He’ll be lucky if they don’t bring out the tar and feathers! On another note, saw two rabbits and some robins while out walking today. Unfortunately, I also saw some slugs in my garden. Thankfully, I managed to get them out before they caused any more damage.

Today is:
National Bubba Day
National Rocky Road Day
National Rotisserie Chicken Day
National Leave the Office Early Day. With continued riots in the streets, this might be a very good idea.

If he used crazy glue it won’t be a problem for anyone- except him. If it’s super glue- good luck.
