National Pool Opening Day. Ae you kidding? Much too chilly for that yet. Pools here don’t open until around Memorial Day.

National Kiss of Hope Day

National Sense of Smell Day

National Rebuilding Day. Each year on the last Saturday in April, National Rebuilding Day encourages organizations and volunteers to pick up their tools and roll up their sleeves. On this day and over the weekend, thousands of volunteers join together to provide much-needed and sometimes critical and life-saving repairs, for vulnerable families in various communities.The work done by volunteers is at no cost to the recipient families. Monies for materials are raised through sponsorships, donations, and in-kind gifts. Volunteers come together from area businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, civic and community groups, and associations and work selflessly to help others. The cost of shingling a roof or building a ramp adds up, especially if someone is on a fixed income. These volunteers make homes safer, more economical to heat and cool, and more enjoyable for the residents.

I don’t listen to talk radio, so I don’t mind if talk radio ignores me.

No radio for me either, can’t stand the inane banter. But I would listen to K-ATZ! Exciting sighting for me yesterday – there is a huge fruitless mulberry tree in my yard that housed bees inside for several years until they disappeared 2 springs ago. Yesterday I noticed several dozen swarming around the opening and last evening I could hear them buzzing inside. So happy they are back! My picnic table is only a few feet away and I will likely get stung a few times but I am not allergic and after 40 years of migraines a bee sting is nothing.

A chat host has complete power over the show. Many will cut off a caller while they present their own opinionated response, so as to give the impression of having “won”.
