I made Harvest Soup today…fry 1 lb of hamburger. Cube 3 peeled potatoes, 3 thickly sliced carrots, 1 chopped onion, 3 sliced celery sticks, 3 minced garlic cloves. Add to hamburger in a big pot and saute for a few minutes. Add 2 cans of diced tomatoes, 4 cups of beef broth, 1 cup water, 4 tbl sugar, 2 top salt. Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 hour or until the veg are tender. Makes 12 servings. Good if you’ve got a crowd of relatives coming for the holidays.
National Homemade bread Day. Homemade bread is good, especially if you eat it while it’s still warm and you put on plenty of butter (after all, it’s Butter Day too!). But I won’t have time to bake bread because I have to go to work. Darn!
It sounds delicious. Tofu “hamburger” (aka TVP—it’s available “pre-hamburger-ised” in the frozen foods) and veggie broth would make it even better! I think I might use your recipe with those changes myself.
I just made my first veggie sloppy joes the other night and they were heavenly as usual. It was hard to resist ringing changes on them so as to have them the whole week.
Telethon!!!!! GREAT IDEA! I can assist answering the phones. Have many years of telethon experience at WLIW, Garden City, NY (PBS). Will even agree to sit next to Jack and Chesney, to keep them in line and help avoid fraud charges…..
Very funny expression! XD Reminds me of when Calvin’s Dad tried to take his picture and Calvin kept making all these weird faces. Of course, Oliver doesn’t have to try looking adorable, it just comes naturally. On another note, saw two wrens and two rabbits while out walking today.
For those of you who sent prayers and good thoughts for the starved and neglected horses that spent some time at my barn last month while in quarantine, here is an update from Redemption Road Rescue: UPDATE ON EDISON AND ALLISON!! these two old folk are doing amazing because of all the people who donated to help with their rehab. They have come so far in such a short time! Although they still have a lot of weight to gain we have great hope for them ! Allison and Edison are both full of energy and sass! Especially at feeding time! Thank you to all who have donated and prayed and shared our post to help us save them!

Oliver’s face is what happens after having a piece of the ceiling fall on him.

I’ll donate. Moose and Blackjack will donate their allowances, too. It’s blowing hard out there this morning and I love it.

A warehouse telethon could bring either good attention or not so good attention. We will see.
