Awww, that was sweet. And I’ll bet he secretly liked it.
The roofers were here this morning at 7:30. Now it can rain and I won’t be anticipating another crash. The drywall guy comes next week. The drywall is going to cost exactly what the insurance gave me. Nice!. The roof isn’t covered because I live on a golf course.
We’re doing the pumpkin decorating contest at work again this year. And since there seems to be some stupid rule against sharing pictures, I was afraid to try sending a link to the picture of my entry in the contest. But, then I thought if I use the picture as my avatar, you can see it. So this will be my avatar for October.
No, this is not my own original design. I googled “no carve pumpkin decorating ideas” (I love google and I use it a lot). It showed something like this. The kit costs $13. I don’t know if it includes the black paint. Well, I’m not paying any $13 for a few pieces of stick on foam! So, I bought sheets of stick on foam for under $6 (and there’s a lot left for future projects). This design looked simple enough that I could make my own ears, eyes, wings, and mouth. I think it turned out pretty good! I named my entry “Bat Cat” because it’s sort of a combination of a bat and a cat.
Instead of paint, I used a cheap piece of black fabric (on sale for $1.50 a yard and I used about half a yard). That way, when the contest is over, I can take off the fabric and still have a pumpkin that can be used for pie or to give to the squirrels or whatever I choose to do with it.
Voting ends October 31. I’ll let you know how I do.
Moose had his checkup yesterday. I was really getting worried because he looks thinner than he used to and he seems to sleep a LOT. The vet he’s been seeing since the day we moved in is slowing down his time at the practice and I don’t like the new guy. He doesn’t weigh the pet, take its temp, feel its innards or anything else. If you go in with a specific issue, he looks at that and it’s done. He still charges for a full exam, though. So, when I made the appt last week I said NO to that vet and would wait for Dr B. Moose got the full Dr B exam. He’s actually gained 2 pounds over the last year. His teeth and gums are good. His temp and heartrate were normal. He felt his innards and didn’t find any lumps or anything questionable. Moose is 12 now and good for a few more years.
There’s a meme now about kissing your pet on camera to see how they act. Cats seem shocked but pleased. Dogs just melt into the human with happiness. Obviously, these people don’t smooch their pet like we do. It beats the crack an egg on your toddler’s forehead meme. I want to crack a bat on those parents’ heads.
He definitely needed that. Too bad he doesn’t realize it. (Or does he?) On another note, saw a varied thrush, three chickadees, a woodpecker, two spotted towhees, and a squirrel while out walking today.

I bet that under his fur, Chesney is blushing. He’ll never admit it, but he liked being kissed by Annie.

I can still ‘hear’ Jack Benny telling Rodchester to ‘cut that out’
