That is true of a couple of my cats, but several of my cats jump in my lap almost the instant I sit down. And they get in my face and purr and they love to be petted. I wish I could get Panther and Annie and April to be lap cats. But that’s not their way. Ozzie isn’t a lap cat, either, but he loves to be petted. But yet, he always knows when I’m out to catch him to take him to the vet. I don’t even have to have a cat carrier in sight, but he knows when I’m going to try to stuff him in a carrier for one of his rare visits to the vet. And I can pet Ozzie, but he objects to being picked up or held in my arms.
We all know the " I will sit on your lap, but do not touch me hooman". And the related " You may pet me for 1 minute and 17 seconds, any longer and "chomp ".
Boots will only let me pet her when we’re on the bed. A few ties she’ll let me pick her up when I’m in a char, but that’s because she gets treats for that. But she has to be in the mood. On another note about cat hairs on your clothes: My late husband was watching one of those true life murder programs & they mentioned the cat and helped find & convict the man. Naturally I watched. Seems she had hugged the cat before she left & of course had cat hairs on her clothes. He hid the body in his trunk & some of the hairs were transferred to the trunk. Now I make sure I have cat hairs on me when ever I leave the house. I also know some celebrity- don’t remember who- can your not fully dressed (or something like that) unless you have cat hairs on your clothes.
We don’t know where Missy was before she became an indoor kitty. But she LOVES to be on my lap; you can place her there and she WILL settle down most of the time. On the other hand, don’t offer a hand to be scratched… yes, of COURSE they’re one and the same cat!
About 1/2 hour ago the 1st ever Rainbow Bridge ZOOMIE session ended. The hostess is Dr. Zoe Lumiere – who puts videos of her neurologically challenged white husky on-line (@Fenixlumiere). If you want to see my thoughts on it please check today’s FURBABIES. The next session is this Thursday night.
Cats can be affectionate when they want to be. One of my cats is in my lap right now, for example. It’s important to respect their nature. On another note, saw two chickadees, two spotted towhees, three robins, and a wren while out walking today.

That’s Blackjack. I can call Moose and he comes running for a lap visit. Blackjack – not even an acknowledgement.

I can’t tell if that’s her pants, dress, etc., pattern or if there is a kitty-mat on her lap to catch the shed.

If the cat is small, it’s not too much of a problem. The larger ones are a handful of fuzz!

I prefer to be alone as well! Guess that makes me a solitary creature.

I always am HONORED when a cat chooses to bestow their company on/beside/near me.
