I got my hand x-rayed this morning. I jammed it into the sink front 3 days ago, it should have been better by now. My Dr. Looked at it yesterday during my annual physical and she thought the knuckle might be cracked. We will see tomorrow.
NATIONAL COOLER DAY. What more could you need than a cold drink for the official launch of summer? Something to keep it cold, of course! National Cooler Day, the Friday before Memorial Day, makes staying cool easy this summer.

NATIONAL DON’T FRY DAY. Nope. They’re not talking about fried foods. They’re talking about frying yourself. Each year on the Friday before Memorial Day, National Don’t Fry Day aims to raise awareness of all the risks of overexposure to the sun. It is important for everyone to remember to use sun protection and sun safety practices.

The last day of my 5 day vacation :( I didn’t get nearly enough done in my garden, which was the reason I picked this week to take vacation. I couldn’t get in the garden much because of all the RAIN!! Monday and Tuesday, rain, with big storms on Tuesday which did quite a bit of damage out at my brother Mark’s house (where I have my garden), but no damage here. Mark’s house wasn’t damaged, aside from a broken garage window, but lots of tree damage. I finally got some garden work done on Wednesday. The garden was full of weeds, so I had to get rid of weeds before I could plant. I did that on Wednesday and did more on Thursday, but I still need to do a little more. Also on Thursday, I planted 2 rows of potatoes, 5 rows of sweet corn, 2 hills of squash and 4 hills of watermelon. By then, I was too tired to plant the green beans, Besides, I need to weed a larger area before I can put in my 4 rows of beans. I had planned on planting beans Friday morning because the weather forecast had called for rain starting in the afternoon or evening. Now they changed the forecast, saying rain will start in the morning. So much for getting those beans planted!
Looks like another beautiful day here in northernmost Maine. We hit 80’s this week and I’ve now mowed my lawn. Summer is here. I’ve been staying busy working as a substitute teacher, so a long weekend will be nice. I’m enjoying being at the school with the teachers I worked with before covid, and the kids have been fun to be around. Yesterday, late, I left a review on the ‘’The Electrical Life of Louis Wain’’ should you care to go back and read it. Have a great holiday weekend all!!!!!
That’s good advice. I’d rather think of dandelions as pretty flowers than invasive pests. To be honest, there a lot worse plants out there. On another note, saw seven robins, two Wilson’s warblers, and three rabbits while out walking today.

But dandelion puffs make me sneeze.

I’m appreciating this series of Oliver panels. A good break from you-know-who.

But isn’t the only reason to pick dandelions is to blow away the seeds and watch them fly?
Dandelions are such a pretty flower. Too bad too many of them grow where they are not wanted.

Also, when holding dandelion puffs, blow out to make them fly. Don’t suck air in unless you really want a mouth full of dandelion puffs!

I love watching dandelion seeds floating in the air. Blowing them off a perfect ‘puff’ was a childhood treat.

That’s the whole point of dandelion seeds- they want to be blown all over the place!
