I had a 1968 Nova straight 6 with the floorboards about gone every time I hit a puddle id get a splash of water to my face lol I hated driving that thing.
Was given one to drive out of the car pool and almost had an accident because of the blind spot. Took it back in the next morning and asked if I could please have the old plymouth. Think I was the only one in the company that liked it.
I’d get a second opinion on that answer, if I were you, Wilberforce! Especially if your father is talking about a VEE-hicle and you’re researching a science question!
It wasn’t ‘super’ but I knew a guy who had a Nova. There was a hole in the floor behind the pedals and he could watch the road going underneath the car.
According to the always 100% correct internet: Classic business legend holds that the Chevrolet Nova sold poorly in Spanish-speaking countries because of a translation snafu – because its name translates as “doesn’t go” in Spanish.
I heard once they were having trouble selling Novas in Spanish-speaking countries, until someone in marketing finally figured out the name means “No go” in Spanish. (Pretty close to that in French, too.)
That is definitely one definition, of a pretty hot car and hot is the key word in Super Nova. However, wouldn’t hurt to use a “computer” search ENGINE for a back up definition. I had a 1966 Chevelle SS396 back then and it was VERY HOT…..
When GM sent the Nova to Mexico auto dealers, sales were abysmal. The highly paid executives in Detroit couldn’t figure out why until the janitor told them Nova means “Doesn’t Go” in Spanish.
When I was little we had a 49 Pontiac convertable that had a good sized hole in the floor in the back seat where I rode and when I had to wizz dad just said out the hole.

The Chevy Nova could hardly be considered super, especially compared to a star 5 times the mass of our sun that goes out with a bang.

A stellar definition…not!

I owned several Novas. Loved them. The 6 cylinder engines were some of the best engines.

A friend of my older brother had a 65 nova. Quite an impressive ride. Later models not so much.

I had a Super Nova as well. I had to get rid of it though. The damn thing kept running into phone booths

Late 60s early 70s saw some decent Nova muscle cars but were, IMHO, ugly. I guess that’s why you don’t see them much on the classic muscle car market.

Novas were my favorite cars! I had a ‘68, 70, 74, and 76. Never a problem with any of them! However I wouldn’t own a Chevy or other GM product now.

My ’64 283 three-on-the-column Nova was probably the best car I ever owned. With a tight suspension, it was so agile.

A Nova is a model of Chevrolet made in the ’60s and ’70s. A Supernova is a hopped up Nova.
