My wife and I were in a similar situation, we did two things. One, turned the engine off. (No need to have it idle for an hour.) Second, was to find a semi to stand behind while answering the call of nature.
Good thing he’s not driving an EV. With a gas car, it’s possible to get a ride to a station and buy a gallon of gas to take back to the car. With an EV, it requires that the car be towed somewhere with a charger.
The first snow storm of the season is due to hit the Omaha area tomorrow night. This is a good reminder. Fill your gas tank and keep it at least half full to prevent condensation and gas line freeze. Make sure you have your tires and battery checked. Put blankets and a flashlight with fresh batteries in the car. Thanks Brutus, you aren’t a Born Loser today. Happy New Year – Gott Nytt År.
Being retired military – always carry empty container to go in. And always keep vehicle full of gas. Never go below 3/4 tank Gas and I traveled a many a mile. Still keep cooler of water and beverages and snacks in my trucks and cars and a gallon of water for others in emergency. Jump cables/blanket.

Don’t worry, there’s a service station at the top of that steep hill.
Renatus Profuturus Frigeridus Premium Member almost 3 years ago
The car behind can push you to the next service station.

How do you charge an EV if you run out of juice on the highway?
Alberta Oil Premium Member almost 3 years ago
Could be worse.. you could sitting in a dead EV.
preacherman Premium Member almost 3 years ago
If Brutus had an EV, he’d not have any problem with sitting in “idle” as the EV uses hardly any energy when not moving.
raybarb44 almost 3 years ago
Somedays you just deserve that title Brutus, as do we all at times. ALWAYS keep your tank half full….

Never, ever ask that question. The possibilities are endless and will show themselves when that question is asked.

I have always hated traffic jams. But if you want to try to drive in the worst IMPO traffic jams in the world, try Tokyo Japan.
