When I was young, in the 1950s, I and a friend would walk to a nearby theater to catch the Saturday 25 cent children’s matinee to watch the old scary ‘monster movies; Frankenstein, Dracula, Godzilla, Rodan… We would begin watching the scary movie from the front row or as near as was available when we got inside. As the movie progressed (as we got scared) we would decide maybe we should go buy a soft drink or snack or use the restroom. When returning inside the theater’s screening room, we would think up some reason to sit several rows back from the screen, not that either of us would ever admit to have gotten frightened. On occasion if the movie was really scary, we might repeat this maneuver two or even a third time and finish watching the movie from the back row. Those were the days!
It’s a good thing Uncle has a nephew with good eyesight to go out with. They do seem to have a great relationship. I have a niece and pretty soon, I’m going to be a granduncle.
Love Brutus look last panel. Pure contentment/happiness showing on his face with his Uncle Ted. I grew up in days of drive in movie theaters. Take ya gal on Fridays/Saturday nights. Park on back row. What was playing – mattered not.
The simple pleasures are always the best pleasures. Sharing an event, even if it’s just a movie, with someone you care about, is something that will be remembered by both long after that event. However, the only time I ever sat in the front row for watching a movie. was watching Patton on its opening performance as no other tickets were available. Never again. My only question is; where is the popcorn?
Last time I went to a theater the sound track was so loud that I not only had to remove my hearing aids, I had to use ear plugs to get the sound low enough to understand and protect what is left of my hearing(Luckily my wife carried several sets of ear plugs in her purse) This happened over several years in 3 different states.

But the neck hurts.

Yep, I’d end up with a stiff neck if I sat front and center.

Tenth row center seems best to me.

Wouldn’t it be the opposite? As people age, it becomes harder to focus on close-up objects.

Uncle Ted hasn’t seen a night show in decades either. He’s been to a night show but napping overcomes watching.

Personally I prefer sitting in the very last row with nothing behind me but the wall.

So cool that Brutus and Uncle Ted share time together. Next they can do a buddy trip to the chiropractor to straighten out their necks.

Individuals vary but most people become more farsighted as they get older.

Theaters don’t have a pause button when I need to hit the restroom or closed captions since I can’t hear everything.
