Don’t feel bad at Mamma’s cut. I like to watch who-done-its on ETV and enjoy them all. But, the Endeavor series, I have to admit, can be so complicated that it may take two or three viewings to get it. What I lack in raw intelligence, I make up for in tenacity.
And yet, Mama Gargoyle would be able to recognize a difference HOW? She is locked into the tripe on TV now and I doubt that any change would be recognized. She is what TV producers direct their content and advertising to…..
It took me quite a while to convince my very young grandchild first that my TV was broken, and as she got older, that it just doesn’t work in the day time when I would babysit. I had to hide the remotes when she was younger. At 11 months she knew how to turn on a TV. She loved coming here – I actually spent my time with her. I felt she saw enough TV in her life already.
All the discussion here about the quality of television shows can best be summed up in the maxim of sci-fi writer Theodore Sturgeon: “Ninety percent of everything is crud.”
Can’t tell about today’s shows. I haven’t watched commercial TV since Tony left NCIS. I don’t even recall how long ago that was. I don’t miss the tube at all. I read. Much more satisfying and no commercials taking up 25% of the hour.

Brutus, complaining but still watching. I think the networks understand this problem and use it to fill the time between advertising slots.

Made Programs intelligent? They’d loose the MAGA people if networks did that. MAGA folks far prefer “dumb as doornobs” programs.

And there sits Mother Gargle – watching soap operas – the fullfillment programs.

Brutus, your retort would be, “so they dumbed it down so you could understand it”.

Television Shows on most channels follow the old maxim of education. Always teach to the lowest level of education.
