Refreshing. An actually sweet strip where two people in a family, especially a married couple, (From the wife directed at the husband, no less.) are actually loving to each other.
Well I be â Gladys almost teared me up. My wife was buried Friday. Age 85. It seems only yesterday we were getting married. Time gone in blink of an eye. Enjoy your time together folks. Leave squawking to birds.
This now is a side of Gladys I hadnât expected. She really can be sweet, at times. And, she does like being with her husband, despite what her mom says.
While not wildly romantic or anything, it is an expression of love for my wife and I to sit and watch TV shows or movies we both like together. We simply enjoy being in each otherâs company.
This is part of my life. PSA: the best program to come out of network television in a very long time is Alaska Daily. Itâs rare to see a tv show anymore with any real acting and quality writing.
I didnât watch any TV for at least 30 years, and when I started, I never bothered to learn when things were actually aired. I stream or watch DVDs at times that are convenient for me. I would still not watch any TV, but my tinnitus is too loud at night now to be able to concentrate on a book. Happy to see Gladys not only doing something nice for the two of them, but mentioning it in such a loving way.
Aww! One of the few times we see a little real tenderness between them (as opposed to the zingers, although those are also a form of affection). Also reminiscent of the Love Is . . . comic which, according to Wikipedia, is still running:

I miss the NBC Sunday Night Mystery Movie. McLeod, McMillan and Wife, Hec Ramsey and my favorite Columbo. âAh just one more thing.â

The opposite is when the relationship ends, you see the shows that you used to watch together and have difficulty watching them alone.
Then when you do watch them, you laugh and realize sheâs not laughing too.
Keep going Brutus.

True love is not making âprescientâ comments to your mate while watching a show you have seen before. :)
