Brutus is honest about the fact things aren’t going well for him today. I wonder if the same is true for all of us. Most of the time, when asked: “How are things going?” I’ll reply: “Going good.” even though things really aren’t going well.
A portion of it is because the person asking really doesn’t want to know how I am, it simply is a gesture in the direction of courtesy and manners. The other side of it and likely the major part is that I’ve no wish to burden anyone with whatever is going on in my life. After all, why would I want to distress someone else if something in my life has gone sideways.
The last people I would tell my difficulties to is someone who dislikes me. Why give them a chance to relish my misfortune and weaponize it against me?
I am fortunate though in that I have people I can talk to.
Don’t trust her in any situation with any information. She has to earn it and she never will. However, she was really wrong in her final statement. A true friend is a person who would listen to what you have to say; offer constructive comments if wanted and warranted by you and keep your statement in total confidence by never passing on that information. Mother Gargoyle fails in all of those scenarios. Want to go out for a coffee, maybe a beer or do need something stronger my friend?…..
Respect for the spouse, aside, I have never understood why someone would let a person into their house that bad-mouths them, that way. I have more respect for myself, and would tell the spouse that if you want to visit, do it when I am not home.

Wow. What a sorry life you’ve led, Ms.Gargle. I care about many people and often ask how they are, today. But, at least you’re honest with Brutus.

Brutus tell her “seeing you just made my day, go south”. But then you’d probably make her day.
