This is brilliant, on par with Pogo’s “Deck us all with Boston Charlie, Walla Walla Wash, an’ Kalamazoo” :) Please help spread this and make it a meme!
I think this captures the real way every student has understood the pledge they were forced to bleat out in unison. I’ve long thought it should be “I pledge to uphold the Constitution for which this flag stands…..”; and leave out the “under God” part….
I pledge allegiance to flag, (that so many of brothers in arms fought and died for and one day, when I am no longer here, my wife will be given) of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

Ah…I remember the good ol’ days, when we recited that in class every morning. I THINK it was just the first grade. I don’t recall doing it after that

‘Play ball’ is the end of the National Anthem, not the Pledge. /s

Isn’t he the cutest little patriot? Reminds me of me trying to remember lines to a song at that age.
