Oh no, now there are two of them. Anyway, I think this cartoon is funny, clearly tramp stamps are a modern anachronism. This is like that Independence Day themed Budweiser commercial where Jefferson brings the beer.
Regardless of what our resident buzz killer says this is a funny cartoon and I really wish for him that he gets over this incessant need to dissect every joke and make silly judgmental comments each time. It’s boring, sir. Now, stop sullying my name and go live a life, fer chrissakes!
Not to be a pain about it, but according to the U.S. Flag Code, the flag should NEVER:
touch anything beneath it, such as the floor, water or merchandise.
Be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
Be used as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery, or festooned or drawn back in folds.
Have placed upon it any marks, insignia, letters, words, design, picture or drawing of any nature.
Be used for advertising purposes, or embroidered on cushions or handkerchiefs, or printed on paper napkins or anything designed for temporary use and discard.

Hi Joe. Happy 4th of July to you and all American friends from Australia.
I wonder who used the ‘Francis’ avatar as a coward’s way of hiding their usual name on Gocomics. Their current name sums up how they must really feel about themselves. Mind too small I suppose to see their comment above gives us a clue as to their usual identity. Flagged.
Not that I disagree this is a bit disrepectful of our flag, but I think it technically found a loophole in the flag rules. As a tat, it certainly isn’t “anything designed for temporary use and discard” as tattoos aren’t that easy to discard.
Ushindi, maybe it has to do with Jack bleeep Droppings’ avatar at the time of the post which was associated with the Francis the Talking Mule movies.
Because that avatar said “Francis” in a big ole banner, I used that to jump to a reference to the movie Stripes. The phrase “Lighten up Francis” from that movie is more or less an internet meme (definitely is in corners where I hang out).

just then Martha walked in…… she looked from George to Betsy’s exposed flank and back to George……… thus began the fireworks custom on independence day

I thought the “offending” avatar was of Donkey from SHREK?
Saucy1121 Premium Member over 14 years ago
Currently, it IS Donkey from Shrek. May have changed it, who knows what it might be later.

JAD (the real one) said “And most of the time, you don’t even mention the cartoon or comic strip on the web page.”
OK, what about your “Francis” comments? What exactly do they have to do with the comic?
(Or with anything here, actually, since the avatar in question is Donkey, NOT Francis.)
