If you don’t know the destination, how do you expect to get there?

I like “my bad.” And I’ve never heard a 4 year old say anything like.

Hi Pab Re: “Very pleased that readers have gone this long without a reference to Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang”

I was thinking about posting something yesterday (after U wrote that) regarding Dick VanDyke & the movie - good family entertainment! Today I’m remembering “My Mother The Car” with Jerry VanDyke (the younger brother of comedian and actor Dick) and Ann Sothern (Mother’s Voice). I like using “my bad” - “our bad” is totally appropriate considering how long they’ve been leading Queen on the wrong-road-trip!

Hum! This GPS, when not given a destination, kept saying “remain on the current road”. Is there a life lesson here?

    I definitely need more coffee.

I can’t believe I’m wading into this, but asking the general public to stop using “my bad” is one thing – asking a cartoonist who uses anything and everything to satiric effect, including current pop catch phrases that are precisely even more humorous coming out of a historical character, means someone perhaps could have used more sleep last night. Or something. Peace out.

Gotta agree with Cars23. The idea of Queen Victoria (or Mohandas Ghandi, Or Mother Theresa, et al) using current popular slang is in itself a bit of a giggle. By using the royal plural (OUR bad), the giggle is multiplied. S’truth.

Geez, a thing as smart and cool as a GPS should be able to KNOW where we want to go automatically. Isn;t that how it works???

i’m reminded of a strip where a character, busily searching, is asked, “what are you looking for?” only to respond, “something to find.” life is a journey, not a destination. (but what a long, strange trip it’s been.)

All right – another petty, technical issue. Should her maj not be on the other side of the car? I believe the steering wheel should be on the right…. :-) Then again, maybe she is in a rental car in North America. Pab, please check in. We worry.

Sorry I haven’t checked in. Been busy the past several days putting anything and everything up on eBay and making contingency plans.

Gweedo: I’m 30 minutes from the PO box. My partner in 2,000 Monkeys With Typewriters, Kris Leeds, was supposed to check it Monday and yesterday, but dealing with his own problems (a grandmother with Alzheimer’s) kept him away. I’m going to go down tomorrow if he didn’t pick it up today.

The PO box is there because Kris handles the business side of the LLC including plans (very tentative right now, obviously) to go down the self-syndication route and offer “Queen Victoria” to newspapers ourselves, if one or two of them ever feel like picking it up. (The contract with Universal uClick is for online only, and they’ve turned down the print option, so we may just run with it.)

Right now we’re in a holding pattern. When I know more, you all will too.

As for the Model T, I forgot to flip the image to make it right hand drive when I did the first strip, and never bothered to correct it. Oddly enough, although my Uncle Johnny has a collection of Model T’s down at Storybook Land, NJ, that includes right hand drive models, I was unable to find a stock image of a right hand drive Model T.

Oh, and for the record, I never say “my bad” in real life. But the thought of Her Maj saying “our bad” just struck me funny.

My English professor, Dr. Rick Simpson, once said that English has enough words, if you know how to use them correctly. I agree.

Robert Silverberg, the SF writer, once made the mistake of boasting to Robert Heinlein that he had published “a million words.” Heinlein cocked an eyebrow and said “there aren’t that many words in the English language. You must have reused a few.”

There was a glitch with GoComics on the 18th. I know Bleeker was also taken out, among others. Sorry it was late.
