We had a female Wheaton who would sleep in her crate in our bedroom. Then we took a trip, and my MIL watched the house and the dog while we were gone. She didn’t feel that safe being by herself, and had the dog sleep on the bed with her. When we came back and put the pup in her crate, the light went out, and we then heard this long, low grumbling growl from the crate. So eventually I got up and let her out of the crate and she got up on the bed. You literally have never seen a happier dog in your life. I really miss that girl!

Don’t see a problem there. You shoulda bought a longer bed!

A dog needs to sleep with his pack to feel secure. Ditch the crate.

My Rusty (see left!) will lie beside me for hugs in the morning. Can’t do that from a crate.

When I was a kid, a neighbor came over one cold, rainy November night and gave us their Westie.
Dad said ‘That dog is going to sleep in the garage’.
A few days later he said ’It’s kind of cold in there. She can sleep in the laundry room.’
And a few days after that, she had the run of the house.
