    No right winger comments on this one. Too complex for them.

    But like he told Hannity he can do amazing things just by thinking about it! So all of this will just disappear…..because of his super mind powers.

    The government was already doing it to ordinary citizens, the doing it to relatively rich and powerful politicians is new.

    I think the point is crowd control. we are already boiled, fellow frogs & the water is now tepid. some new legal thing is going to save us (see Mueller Report) & then it somehow doesn’t. orange thug’s demise is assured & then it somehow isn’t. they are now building the Gigante Robe defense, he is still scot free to incite mobs at rallies, to appear on Hannity high as a kite, diaper full, claiming to declassify with the power of his stable genius mind. the Jan 6th committee will save us. orange perp will appeal to the Extreme Coup Injustices, 6 of whom he installed & a 7th’s wife is one of his enslaved insurrection cult leaders….between “this is a sure thing” & “what is wrong with this picture?”, fascism is fait accompli. we watch a Ken Burns documentary on the Holocaust while in really real time, eugenics posters are being stapled to lamp posts, & guys are driving through Jewish neighborhoods yelling “you will all die!”

    If they can do it to Trump, they can do it to you.”

    Well, I do hope so. If any of us commit criminal acts and security breaches, shouldn’t we be investigated and tried?

    Two things to remember about the charity fraud:

    1) It concerned actions predating, and unconnected with, the presidency (although the judgment came down in 2019);

    2) The $2 million in fines was a drop in the bucket compared to the $25 million he had to pay for the Trump University fraud (also predating/unconnected with the presidency).

    Neither of these is in any way mitigating, of course. And “stealing from cancer kids” isn’t going to play well before a jury…

    There is a hope that once Trump either dies or goes to jail, that the problem will be all taken care of. That is wrong. Trump isn’t even the disease, he’s just a symptom. The disease is the capitalist system that produces a permanent underclass while assuring them that they are in a country that gives everyone equal opportunity. Those who are rich buy politicians who maintain the system, and when Republicans are in charge expand it. The media lets us know on a regular basis that there are people who were born in poverty but overcame the odds and are rich. That requires either talent, superior intelligence, or luck, frequently a combination of the three. And, the average person doesn’t have that advantage, or the advantage of being born on third base. So, the people who are still giving it their all and keep striking out have the general idea that the game is rigged against them, and no clear idea as to exactly why or how that happened. They get mad about it, don’t know who to blame, and Trump told them that it wasn’t their fault (probably the only true thing he ever said) and he would fix it ( probably the biggest lie).

    I’ve always said the reason Republicans flock to Trump is because they’re just like him. Cheating is ok if you come out ahead. And when you look at his myriad of flaws (sexual assault, illiteracy, ripping off charities, fraud, not paying contractors, insurrection, and more) it really says a lot about the kind of people they are.

    The poor schmuck can’t catch a break. He’d thought he’d picked a winner in Judge Aileen M. Cannon and was delighted when his lawyers agreed to let a good old Reagan-appointed judge, U.S. District Judge Raymond J. Dearie, as her special master to stall and drag the Mar-a-Lardo fiasco further down into the MAGA mire.

    Whoops! That bit of brilliance backfired!

    It’s the old Hoisted On Your Own Petard showing up and sticking The Great Prevaricator right up his righteous rectum.

    Judge Dearie wasted no time in telling the former wannabe dictator and his lawyers to either put up or shut up! Not only is the good judge cutting through all the obfuscation thrown up by Trump’s desperate attorneys, but he has now managed to back them into an untenable position – in no part thanks to the Orange Maroon’s inability to keep his big mouth shut.

    FRED Trump was a career financial criminal, and Donald was involved in his tax fraud and wire fraud. Donald didn’t understand the details, of course (what with being an imbecile), but he was involved as much as anyone this side of Fred himself. Were there justice, both Fred and Donald would’ve been sent to prison, and then Donald would never have had the chance to become a traitor to the United States of America.
