“Once, the manager [Walter Alston] came out to the mound and instructed me to walk a batter,” Dodgers Hall of Fame right-hander Don Drysdale once said. “I wound up hitting him instead. Why waste four pitches when one will do?”
I remember when it was just men driving like uber aggressive a$$hats………………..yes, I’m thinking that one day Amelia may be driving like and uber aggressive a$$hat.
Your story reminds me of a young pitcher who came up with the Yankees quite a few years ago and a reporter asked him when did he decide to become a pitcher. He said In Little League, he had initially been a shortstop but threw so hard that his coach decided to try him out a pitcher. He said the first kid came up, and he threw as hard as he could and klunked the poor kid. Same thing happened with kid #2. Kid #3 came up and started crying as soon as he got in the box before he even had a chance to throw the ball. He said it was at that moment he wanted to be a pitcher.

This is why Amelia is not allowed to pitch when Spud is up to bat.

Sounds like me, talking to my boss. Why did you ask if you didn’t want to know the answer?

Schoolboy Rowe was asked how he pitched to Stan Musial. “I intentionally walk him, then try to pick him off first.”

Ok, maybe too drastic. But at least brush him back with an inside pitch!

At their age, hitting a batter is always a possibility whether they want to or not

Charlie Brown’s team might have won a few games if Lucy had played catcher.
