I did that once, during college, during a 90 degree summer day in Minnesota. Over blacktop so squishy it burned the webbing between my toes. Good times.
I just heard a report that this summer has been so hot in the southern states ER’s have been treating a large amount of 3’rd degree burns caused by flesh on pavement
My husband and I went to a sci-fi book convention earlier this month, and multiple people were walking around barefoot… which was one thing in the hotel conference room s, but much grosser in the restrooms.
I can relate. We walked to the swimming pool, across blazing gir asphalt streets, barefoot. Scurry might be more descriptive. Just be sure to not drop the coins for the admission.
When I was 10 my friends and I would walk tot he neighborhood pool sans shoes, stand on our towels while waiting for the street light to change and gingerly walk on our toes across the highway. About 3 years later my summer feet had gotten so tough I could walk on broken glass and not feel it.

Unfortunately, cement and tar both become too hot for bare feet in summer weather.

Yep. Did that a few weeks ago. Hello second degree burn on my foot. Though popping that blister was so satisfying.

IIRC, when we were that age it took about a week and a half before callouses enabled us to handle anything

Some flipflops or sandals might be a wise choice.

Remember that if you take your pets to the beach with you. Boots for your doggos will be good for you in the long run

Walk on the white lines, boy! Any self-respecting wild child knows you use the white lines.
