Half a century old and the situation is more than twice as bad.
Example: ‘family medical practice’ with a dozen or more docs and 4 locations. One answering service. Worse yet, they still send and receive records by fax machine with only one for each office. Always fully loaded with incoming.
Worse yet, signed in for 5 minute blood test. I’m the only person in waiting area, Heard the lone receptionist phone chatting to friend about relationship to guy for 10 minutes before she put my name in the system and waited another 10 before being called. That’s modern med.
oh my, called a state tax line for information, this last week before taxes are due. After going through the menus it said, “sorry, we are unusually busy and can’t take your call.” and hung up!
Things are worse now. You have to try to explain to the chatbot the reason why you are calling, and it never understands your question. So it takes twice as long to reach a human as it would have without the computer, and they still can’t answer your question!
People think doctors and nurses come and see you four times a day when in the hospital due to all the medical shows going on now. You’re lucky to see your doctor once a week!
Richard Pryor once said “A hospital is no place to get well” after his first heart attack.

Isaac Newton never had an “old lady”. At least, not a wife, and apparently not a girlfriend.
