My Dad was the only one in the family who couldn’t see them. He thought maybe his trifocals were interfering An awful lot of them were dolphins, though..
To this day, I still can’t see a blasted thing in those books. I’ve tried unfocusing, focusing past the page, crossing my eyes, having a beer (or two) first… I think once I even tried just “laying back and enjoying it.” Nada. I’m convinced that it’s the same as the emperor’s new clothes.
I have that book too, I even go to their website and look at the images online. For what it’s worth, the whole wet t-shirt idea might be worth looking into. If not for this strip, then for the Magic Eye people. Would change the phrase, “I see it” to , “I see ’em”.

Haven’t thought about those stupid Books since eye surgery messed up my binocular vision.
But it DID give yo a sense of accomplishment when you finally managed to see the blasted things, after twenty minutes of trying, though!

Let’s just hope this does not inspire her to buy the city’s aquarium instead.

Are we sure Rita is not Maria from Maria’s day when she was a child? She sure acts like her a lot.

That and the kind of personality gags John likes to write. But they’re behavior isn’t all the same.
