Scotty even survived D-Day. Lost a finger, though.

Imagine the situation. Captain Kirk in a do-or-die situation on a strange planet. Calmly flips open his tricorder “Beam me aboard, Scotty” and Scotty replies “Aye captain, will a 6 × 1 suffice?”

A red shirt survived? Isn’t it against the law of the universe?

He was a D-day veteran. Surviving being a red shirt was a cake walk after that.

Security and Engineering both wore red shirts. It was Security that seldom made it to the next episode.

Our beloved family dog of 14.5 years was named Montgomery Scott. We called him Scotty. He is missed. James Doohan was the real deal.

Of course he was. He was a Scotsman. And Jimmy was the man of UK accents. And a Badass, just look up his WWII record.

Of course Scotty was tough. He survived 5-years on the ENTERPRISE under Kirk’s command and only lost a finger.

I kid, I know the story of James Doohan, including his contributions to Star Trek beyond playing Scotty (he voiced many characters in the animated series, created the Klingon vocals used in Star Trek: the Motion Picture) and his war record.

I first learned how to do a Scott’s accent from him watching the show. Though when I met him I did not insult him by doing so. He allowed me to speak to him a bit. He was at the bar at the time.
