Nothing original lately. Maybe they are all on vacation.

Dictaphones (tm!) and their ilk (e.g., “Ediphone”) had been around quite some time by the mid-1940s. In fact, a recording would play a key role in a Nero Wolfe mystery (“The Silent Speaker”) right about this time. It was also right around this time that Dictaphone moved from wax cylinders to a flexible plastic belt — ironically, learning how to fix the old model machines would soon become a dead end!

The Working Daze wiki lists the comic as starting in the early 1990’s. 50 years after WWII and the pacific theatre. Fun, nostalgic artwork though. I love the old comics style from the early/mid 1900’s.

I guess I haven’t seen enough Milton Caniff artwork from the period reflected the I would have necessarily recognized his style in the art, but the Caniff manner in the strip logo and the signature cartouche is unmistakable.

CJ looks really good in the suit, much nicer and more professional than her rather casual portrayal in the current strips!
