That’s what investigations are for, looking for corroborating evidence. This is true in journalism or the law or everyday life. Once we stop caring about establishing the truth, we’re sunk.
It is simply dishonest to say that the two parties are equally guilty of presenting a version of reality designed to further their agenda. The Republicans, or rather the rich folks that they work for, bought media outlets to present “alternative facts”, when the truth being broadcast on real networks didn’t work for them. Alternative facts have made logical discourse impossible. It is possible to reason from accepted facts and at least consider each other’s viewpoint and possibly make some progress toward uniting our country. But, the right wing media has been presenting a twisted view of reality, designed to benefit the rich who own those outlets, for about 40 years now. And, in the last five years or so, the truth can’t even be twisted enough to suit their purposes, which is not a problem because their brainwashing has resulted in a number of people who will believe them when they tell out right lies.

False equivalency, Carl. The Republican party is the party waging a war on scientific facts, political facts and any other truth they don’t like.
Democrats have lied about things and covered up things, but they don’t engineer entire parallel realities and conspiracy theories like Republicans do.
For Republicans, it’s their way of lie-fe.
