Deeding is really hooked on this. He must live in a pretty weird district because my kids never had restrictions on any of their costumes. One of them is now a teacher, and he says there aren’t any issues he’s aware of.
Wearing costumes and trick or treating belongs outside of school after school hours on school days. I don’t know why or when schools started to allow costumes in school but they should end this practice.
We had a Halloween party and parade in the lower grades of elementary school in the 50s. (Elementary school went from 1st to 8th grade. Then 1/2 day kindergarten was added.)

Dress in a leotard and white face. Tell them you’re a soulless bureaucrat and that you are on the school board.
