Trivial question. the so called eternal sea is either the Mediterranean or the Dead Sea. I’ll go with Mediterranean.

… or perhaps looking out over the sea could make you feel pretty significant compared to its seemingly vast empty nothingness.

“vast, eternal”? The horizon is only about 5 km. / 3 miles away.

I like living near the ocean. I don’t go out on boats and haven’t actually been in it in years. But … it’s a boundary, the edge beyond which there is no tourism, inflation or heavy traffic. On clear nights, looking out light-years into the universe gives that same feeling – but colder. :)

I don’t understand why so many folks consider their own “significance” to be significant.

A balance between dignity and humility is the best attitude, when you feel dwarfed by the sea or sky, just compare yourself to a proton.

I didn’t know “insignificant” was spelled with an ‘8’!
