Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Iâm old. One of the podcasts I listen to is Blocked and Reported, hosted by a couple of 40-somethings. Some of the words and acronyms they use, I have to look up.
When it comes to using slang words, Clayton, the son, and Adam, his father, are many decades apart. Clayton is using modern expressions. But, Adam is using word from the Beatnik Generation of the latter half of the 195os. I am reminded of Bob Denver in the role of Maynard G. Krebs on âThe Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.â
I tried to leave a popular one from my youth thatâs a female dog with an âingâ only you exclaimed it without pronouncing the g â(word)inââ. The site wouldnât post it.
I gotta side with Adam on this one. Some of the terms kids use today are analogous to slang from the past. You can infer their meaning from the context, like âsusâ or âradâ for something from my era. But âskibidiâ and some of the other nonsense that comes out of kids mouths really sounds like nonsense for the sake of nonsense. Maybe more like Pauly Shore in his heyday.

Generations have been incomprehensible to their elders for approximately as long as weâve had words. A Good Comic.
