This is my second visit to this site today and I will give some information to those of you who like to know about Chester pubs.
I have just been to a Christmas lunch at The Mill Public House on Liverpool Road in Chester. It is on the opposite side of Liverpool Road from the Countess of Chester Hospital which was named after our late Countess of Chester, Princess Diana, when she opened the hospital in 1984. Sadly that was the hospital at which my Mum died in 2011 and my Dad died in 2020.
The Mill Public House was formerly known as The Bache and was formerly known by the amusing name Quids Inn. It’s current name comes from Mill Lane as it is on the corner between Mill Lane and Liverpool Road. Mill Lane leads past a disused windmill into the Cheshire village of Upton.
I started off with a glass of Strongbow cider. For the Christmas lunch, I had my starter course which was hot honey chicken then my main course which was steak and ale pie and my desert which was Biscoffi Cheesecake. I also had some of a bottle of wine which was shared by three of us.
I can’t enjoy sports unless I’m rooting against one of the teams, one of the contestants, one of the horses, or one of the dogs. This (just perhaps) say summat about me…..
While I fully understand – and enjoy – the competitive sentiments sports involves…I cannot for the LIFE of me understand how anyone who doesn’t have piles of money to squander on a worthless/fruitless addiction allows themselves to be sucked into the black hole of sports betting. It’s absurd. How many lives ruined, spouses beaten, crimes committed as a consequence of people indulging this sickness???

The worst thing that can happen to a horse is for Andy to bet on it.

Flo should ask Andy who he bet on. At least one Horse less to win, place or show.

The picture on the wall must be a close-up of Andy’s “lucky” horse.

Blue Boy at 20-1. Just like clockwork, the Capp Curse drops another horse on the track.
