Janis is dressed like us native Southern Californians when the temperature dips below 60 degrees.

Obviously Arlo has not started any prescriptions for high this or low that. Temperature never bothered me until that phase kicked in. That being said, always said you need changing seasons to keep your sanity. Those areas without much difference between June and December seem to loose perspective, their grasp of mortality.

I miss fall mornings in Oklahoma. Especially, those on the golf course.

I did that the first New Year’s Day on Vancouver Island. And the second. I think I’ll skip this year.

Good ol’ Arlo. I’m not giving up my shorts either, until the frost is on the pumpkin. I’m surprised he wasn’t firing up the grill!

Finally another cool day in Houston. 78 and dry. Low humidity makes it cool, high makes it warm.

For most of my life felt hot all the time. Husband would yell at me for going out in 50F weather with only a sweatshirt f over my clothes for warmth, 40F weather with sweatshirt and open jacket – jacket would not be closed until low in the 30s. Husband was freezing cold most of the time. As a result our house is set up to keep me colder and him warmer – for example the bedroom ac goes through the wall on my side of the bed, my chair at the kitchen table (there now) is in the studio (behind the kitchen) a/c air line and so on. About 3/4-7/8 of the coats in the coat closet are his.

Then about 10 years I simultaneously went through menopause, lost 70 lbs, and was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and low thyroid, both of which are now in line where they should be. Since then I am freezing almost all of the time. I had figured – I am cold, wear warmer clothing – nooooo. If one wears a sweatshirt when it is in the 80Fs one get overheated and ill. So I just walk around freezing cold almost all the time – husband made a rule that if I do not feel like it freezing I have to turn on the a/c as it means it is in the 90Fs.

On the other hand – he went through the same as I did – except menopause of course – and is now hot all the time to point of getting ill. My family was taking apart the family home over the summer as 90 yo mom can no longer stay there alone and we have to sell it to pay for her assisted living, and he could not stay in house – with ac on for more than two hours and sat outside while I went through my stuff (which luckily was not much as the toys and things that would have been hard to deal with had been wiped out in the basement by Hurricane Sandy a few years ago.
