Actually, “Pop” may have legitimate concerns about the turkey content, my father was deathly allergic to a drug contained in turkey – it almost killed him twice.
I wish I knew what it was like to have a family, have a real turkey dinner, sitting and watching football (U.S.) and enjoying good conversation. We all know the story of Thanksgiving is taken a little out of context. I will be working for the next 12 to 14 hours today. Enjoy your day! Maybe somebody ship me a piece of turkey and stuffing and pumpkin pie and mashed potatoes with gravy over everything.
I think Pops is on a heart health diet and should not be eating lasagna, so I understand his suspicion that turkey might be in it rather than red meat. He’s lucky to have a daughter who will make it for him anyway before she leaves to spend time with the in-laws.
Thanksgiving: Samuel de Champlain in Port-Royal on Nov. 14, 1606, which saw Europeans and the local Indigenous peoples breaking bread together. It was organized as part of his “The Order of Good Cheer” dinner party series invented to make sure the colonists ate and drank enough to stave off scurvy and malnutrition. But why celebrate it in October? Simple. Because we didn’t have a good holiday in October and November was filled.
Happy Thanksgiving Day (+ 1) , to EVERYONE! I appreciate ALL the comments…. … the poignant, the reminiscent, the snarky, the innuendo-ish ( is that a word?) They make a GREAT start to my work day! ( maybe not obviously, I have today off and have a moments to login and comment ) Happy Holidays to all – and to all, a “Good DAY!”
