Lucky her. When Gracie wants to look at pictures of her younger days, they probably won’t exist, because everything is digital these days and they’ll all be long gone unless her father prints everything out.

Only if we print ‘em out. CDs are almost off the market anymore, the new laptop I’m working on doesn’t have a CD player. DVRS – they’ll be on their way out one of these days and video just isn’t the same as lingering over a picture of your mother – when she was young. Saving on a thumb drive? Slides – I threw out hundreds, they’d deteriorated to the point all you saw was fuzz. Who’s gonna want to bother in the future? I have the albums from both parents dating back into the 1920’s and cherish them like gold. There are stacks of my photo albums beside them and again, they are cherished. I still think Polaroid cameras were one of the best inventions.

I can still go back and look at my mother’s baby picture in the front yard of the old homestead.

I promised my grandson that I’ll go through some of the family albums with him next time he’s up to visit.
