In high school, I had a U. S. History teacher who made the course entertaining. I wish more were like him.

There’s our educational system!

Not enough alternative schools available that teach life skills and trades. More funding for test taking instead.

One of the biggest issues with our system of education is that it is not interactive. Students have to passively listen to hours of information every day for 20 odd years. If you want people to be engaged and actually retain and process information, they have to interact with it, question it, apply it, make it their own, and not relegate activity to an out-of-class process otherwise known as homework.

Baldo needs a good 6 week course in ditch digging and roadside cleanup; hours 7:00a.m. – 4:30p.m.

A lot depends on the teacher and subject. Where I taught most of the teachers varied the classes to do more interactive activities.
