All that undercoating does is provide little pockets where water can sit & rust out the fenders. The only vehicle I ever got undercoated was a 1977 GMC 1500 … fenders & rockers rotted thru in 3 years.
In Montana the county used to recoat some of the roads every spring with tar. My Dad used to make sure to find out where a freshly tarred road was so he could drive over it and coat the bottom of the car with tar. He said it was to prevent rust. I suppose he was right.
Back in the 60s and 70s, Ziebart had a lot of business undercoating cars to prevent rusting. That was when a lot of salt was used on roads in the northern US.
