Can we just go back to the format of television programming turning off at midnight and coming back on for the 6am broadcast? No one needs 24 hour television.
They do 5 minutes an hour then 55 minutes of talking head commentary.
I love how CNN changed from Breaking News to Happening Now since it happened 6 hours ago and they still have more talking heads to talk about it, and rehash the same points over and over again. I’m sure Fox and the others do the same but I can’t watch them for more than a minute. I’ve tuned out all those stations
Our Founders made Freedom of the Press in our 1st Amendment for good reason. It is crucial for freedom to happen. In their day they only had newspapers to be sure, but each had it’s own editor and reporters who relayed the stories as they chose to. They competed with each other, and still do. The election between Adams and Jefferson was a lot of mudslinging, fake news in some of the papers. But the 1st Amendment was made with the charge that ‘WE, the People’ make the effort, separate the fly poop from the pepper to get to the truth. Just as it is now. Today it’s easier. We have a world full library sitting on our desks or on our phones. It takes the effort.
For an accurate picture of the influence of news media, just look at the way one major network reported on recent candidates. One was displayed in still photos – not film – which were covered by commentary. His/her comments were read by a news person, not the candidate or supporter. The other got full feature video for up to 15 seconds on camera, including full voice recording with crowd reactions. Happened all over the dial.
and "click the “like” button and “subscribe” for more accurate and straightforward “information” — oh and support me on “Patreon” and follow me on all other social media, oh and be outraged at whatever I say to be outraged on!!!! for just a few examples of how to ruin your life in 10 minutes or less.

Ironically in the age of 24-hour news, it is next to impossible to figure out what is news and what is commentary.

2 feel good stories yesterday. Daniel Penny found innocent, and the shooter of the Insurance CEO was caught.

There is no 24-hour news. There is only 24-hour opinion with a smattering of news offered as a lead into someone selling cough drops and insurance.
