Breaking Cat News by Georgia Dunn for March 02, 2017
Transcript:
Lupin: It's that time of year again! Tommy is out asking locals if they've seen any evidence that warmer days are ahead! Tommy: Thanks, Lupin! CN news; have you noticed any signs of spring? Dog: Er... Burt: Aw Tommy, if I can be honest, I'd rather not talk news on my break. Dog: Well...Snakes are out. I saw one this morning. Tommy: Cool! Dog: Made me anxious... That's why I came to see Burt. He has a calming presence. Burt: Thanks, man Elvis: That cat is huge. Lupin: It's called a dog, Elvis. And they are wild and unpredictable. Elvis: According to this, "dogs" all hunt in packs, and do not care for cats or frisbees! Puck: Also, they are shape-shifters. Burt: You guys are being really uncool right now- Beatrix: Coffee run! Gasp! A dog! I did not know there was someone new. Not to worry. Please accept this earl grey tea. Dog: Between see a snake and being accused of shape-shifting...it's been a weird day. This tea helps. Beatrix: I always carry emergency tea bags.

Horray for Beatrix always being ready with emergency tea bags! Earl Grey is the best tea! :D And poor doggy . . . first being spooked by a snake and then accused of being a shape-shifter—too much to be born! Not to mention the fact that there are plenty of dogs who love the company of cats as well as playing with frisbees (i.e. see the movie “Flight of the Navigator”) ;-)

Another new character, and I was wondering if a dog would show up sooner or later.

Beatrix is wonderful. Did March come in like a lion or a lamb where you are?
Sabrina17 almost 8 years ago
March came in like a lion cub; snow showers that melt later in the day.
Beatrix is so cool. I love having spare tea bags.

I can never get enough of Elvis in research mode, with his little reading glasses. " Dogs, our bitey enemy " is a useful catchphrase, too. I love the little slippers on the dog, the reactions of Elvis and Puck, who have never seen one, I suppose, and Bea, who knew precisely that this was no a big cat and made herself at home…on his head.

So many of the local coffee shops only have Earl Grey as their tea choice and I hate the stuff (I don’t drink coffee). You ask them for orange pekoe and you get blank looks, I’ve learned to ask for English Breakfast as it seems to be the only version they understand what you’re asking for

If you’re an indoor cat, I can see where a dog looks like a large cat and then a shape shifter!I notice that Bea has no trouble slipping in and out of the house.

That’s not just a dog, that’s the Border Collie (whose name I temporarily forget) who lives on the farm with Burt and assorted other wonderful characters. The expressions in panels 8 and 11 are true BC looks. And no, they’re not all hyper-active; some are laid-back, people-loving homebodies.

Gul Dukat summed it up best: “I’d like to get my hands on that fellow Earl Grey and tell him a thing or two about… tea leaves.”

Wow – the dog is drawn (with Beatrix on his head) with a beautiful face. Love Puck’s tail – Puff!

When Beatrix gasps in Panel 10, I think that little V is actually a heart monitor symbol, like her heart skipped a beat when she realized she didn’t have a drink for him.
