Bwaa-ha-ha, every panel’s making me crack up :) The indignant little spider is priceless and Elvis trying to push Puck away when all he’s trying to do is help
Gent is doing Burt’s job today since the WEB crawler is out of service! Thank goodness for the erudite and tech savvy backup fan base! Well done, Gent! Poor little spider; she caught more than she could handle!
I would appreciate thoughtful feedback on something that has been nagging me. I know a lot of new readers don’t want to see spoilers, but BCN has been airing for around 4 years and has a huge old-time fan base. I only came aboard this spring, when my paper picked up the strip. I wanted more backstory & browsed “Breaking Cat News”. This gor me into “BreakingCatNews.com” which opened the whole BCN world to me. I confess I was so smitten that I binged all night & read everything the site had to offer.
I don’t see how Georgia will be able to incorporate many of her earlier strips to the tiny daily format without losing a lot of good material. I would like to see her have the freedom to simply go on from this point without having to backtrack to get new readers acclimated.
All her stories are there & free for anyone to play catch-up. I am so glad I did, as most of her pre-newspaper strips were mini-stories and series. Georgia should not be expected to re-explain characters as they appear when she already has, and freely offers them to us all!
And the website also includes bios of nearly everyone, pics of the real cats & humans, great freebies just in time the upcoming holidays, and a shelter report that will break and heal your hearts.
Please, I beg of you all to go back & acquaint yourselves with these stories so we can all go on together & not worry about spoilers! I know of no other comic strip where the artist seems to be expected to roll everything out anew. Computers are available atlocal libraries for those lacking them. And Georgia has books & goodies available online & in bookstores.
This is perfection! My black cat Magic has a tendency to find the webs and they show up so well against his black fur.The spider shaking his fist at Elvis did me in! Georgia is brilliant!
Lupin’s little smirk, Puck’s helpfulness, Elvis’ attempt at looking dignified in spite of being covered in cobwebs, indignant spider, Lupin laughing helplessly – all genius, Georgia!
Sort-of hijacking MAGNOLIAJEM’S comment of how she found BCN.I found it when someone asked my GF’s coworker what were her two favorite ‘cat’ comics. She named BCN as one, and I disremember the other. This was in 2015 or late 2014, so I’ve been watching the best news network around for years now.
Well, everybody else has already praised this particularly genius strip today. So I say “Ditto” about all of that. I am so glad I found BCN. Lily Fortune and Artemus follow the reports closely!
Lupin trying not to laugh in the first panel and then completely losing it int he third, and good, kindly Puck trying to help his friend, the tiny spider — reasons we love this strip. SO GLAD watercolor is back; it feels like Georgia’s hallmark.
I love the “Just let me groom your nose.” My cat Meav “helps” me read the comics every day and after we are finished reading she grooms my face before she takes a nap. I hate it but it makes her feel good so I don’t push her away. Puck reminds me of her just now.
This is my first time to comment, but I have been reading comments for years now. I only read the coments at Ten Cats, until I started reading this wonderful strip. I love them both, but Go Comics didn’t care for the length and amount of comments and didn’t like all the photos etc that people used to post there and made them stop. Many people dropped their membership because of it. There used to be a much bigger community of people there, many from all over the USA and the world and many of them have become friends. I truly enjoyed all their stories and photos and links to really neat cat photos and I miss their participation in the comments.Anyway, I really love both of these strips and both authors have sent messages to readers in the comments or in the strips (Ten Cats) and so personalized them. This is a great strip and even though 10 Cats is very different from this one, it makes me sad more people aren"t following it anymore.
For some reason I can’t reply to SHAUNNMUNN’s question…
I think it would be good to avoid unlabeled spoilers, however perfection is not required (which is fortunate since perfection is not something humans are good at).
What I have trouble with is when a reboot of a comic is in exactly the same URL space that the original version occupies, as if it were a continuation thereof. There isn’t a link from the current page back to the beginning of the comic that the current page is part of; instead there’s a link to the beginning of a somewhat-similar comic. Doing an archive crawl, there’s a point where an abrupt transition occurs that makes no sense at all, where characters suddenly don’t know the characters and places they’ve been around for years…
(There is worse, though. The artist of Catena Manor completely removed the original version – which was good – from the website, and the reboot was so deadly dull that even the artist lost interest in a few weeks. And, since then, apparently has allowed the server to die.)

One doesn’t kill spiders. They are our friends; they kill bugs who aren’t our friends.

Did part of the spider web go from Elvis’ right ear to his left or just waving the opposite direction? Maybe Puck kinda moved it?
