Puck, what do you mean I can’t faint on the couch that smells like freshly delivered Christmas presents? I’ll squeeze myself onto it. Sorta.

Puck, the look in Elvis’s eyes leads me to suggest that you should perhaps re-think that memo.

Cats everywhere are outraged – outraged! – that the People didn’t buy three identical tiny couches. Of course the cats would all want the same one at the same time but it’s the principle of the thing.

I have two “cardboard couches” on the floor of the living room. NEVER have I seen the two of my girls each on their own, separate couch. One may be on the Human’s couch or the Lounge chair, but they apparently feel, like some distorted rule of physics, they would create a tear in the fabric of space and time if they slept on anything but the ONE piece of cardboard together.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kitty as happy, purry, and kneady as Puck! Just like Tommy, that big smile is contagious. :D

I can attest to cats’ love of things cardboard. I built a homemade “whack-a-mouse” toy that was a huge hit at my local shelter. Chewbacca had a blast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn8bXf8OlxE . Also see my video of Tilly playing with it; she showed me that I need to play a little farther away from “interboopers” (-lopers) :D

“What did she mean, ‘check her messages’ Hector? Does she have a computer here?” “Well, tabbita, it’s actually what the Humans call a Laptop. It’s like me- it’s powerful, has a lot of memory, but has a very small footprint.” Tre-C laughed and nodded her understanding, “Yeah, the old Man and Woman I lived with both used laptops.” Hector went on; “Megan has a LOT of cats she communicates with. It’s funny- she told me that this Internet company got some information mixed up in their records, and she ended up getting an invitation to set up her own account online under the name Megan Katz.” “I don’t mean to pry, Hector, but how does she pay for the account?” “Well, the electricity just comes from the wall plug. Jimmy never even noticed the increase when she started. The account itself? You might be interested to know that Megan Katz also has a platinum Visa card with a $24,000 limit.

Just had to replace the most recent “throne” last Sunday (it’s actually one of those X shaped scratchers but I started calling it a throne because it reminded me of pictures of some ancient thrones) and got one that kinda looks like a bed with round full body pillows on both ends. Bandit got very upset about it. Smokey was the first one to discover it and she refused to get off for a few hours. Bandit was like “Ok, I’ll just lay here beside it and wait for my turn.” Then when she finally got of, Bandit got frustrated when his brother took it for a few hours. Then when DC got off, Smokey took it again. It wasn’t until Monday poor Bandit finally got to lay claim to it.

I have a cardboard scratcher for Twig. It comes with a little bag of catnip to sprinkle on it. When she’s not shredding it she’s sleeping on it or just lounging looking cool.

My kitkats have a lounger which is high in both long sides. Last week I found Blackjack and Lily both sharing it, sleeping side by side like two mushed up sardines. Too cute!

Good morning and happy Bunday, orbsters and orbabies. Yum Yum is lucky in that she does not have to share her cardboard couches; I doubt she would be willing to share, and there would be a great deal of hissiing and yowling. She is currently practicing her world-famous imitation of a meatloaf on the back of the couch.

Our big male cat loves those cardboard scratching pads. We’ve got two in the living room and one in the kitchen. And cardboard crumbs to be constantly swept or vacuumed up all over the house.

Someone asked my yesterday what my geriatric snake Pandora does all day. The answer is: sleep enough to put the kitties to shame. She will sleep on her heating pad, then move to her hollow log. Sometimes she digs a tunnel in her bedding and curls up under her water bowl. And occasionally she will stretch out along the front of her box (Pandora’s Box – snort giggle) and just watch. Occasionally I will take her out of her box and let her crawl on me so she will get a bit more exercise.

My cousin, who arrived a few days ago for a visit brought one for the boys. It’s become a prized possession and actually induced my Giant Ginger Gentleman to growl at his Miffed Maine Coon sibling when he tried to touch it.

I’ve been getting a few Amazon packages and leaving the cat condos out for my 4 furries. I forgot that the new Great Dane doesn’t know about cats and boxes yet. Well he does now. Jasper has been sniffing a box or 2 and occasionally a cat will pop out and scare the Bejesus out of him. Sometimes he tries to get traction on the wood or tile floor and fails and other times he just receives a bop on the nose for disturbing a sleeping kitty. Now Jasper approaches boxes with caution. Those boxes can be dangerous stuff!

Pucky moves in and scores the box first. But not to fear Elvis, the box is delightfully small and Pucky will invite you and Lupin in soon.

This strip is so my house. Cat toys everywhere, and the gang insist on playing in the copy paper box.

As usual today’s story strip is wonderful. I have to come here to decompress. The news is enough to make one crazy, so this is my first, middle and last stop of the day, before I close my PC down.

I’ve been catching up on yesterday’s comments, and I noticed a number of people mentioning West Michigan. Y’all know about Crash’s Landing, right? Wonderful, wonderful cat rescue in GR run by an overworked but enthusiastic local vet and an army of dedicated volunteers.

Also includes Big Sid’s Sanctuary, a magical place where rescues with feline leukemia and/or feline AIDS wait for that special forever home. And if it never comes along, they live out their lives with fuzzy blankets, full bellies, the best medical care, catnip mice, snuggles, and dozens of feline and human friends.

A while back I had a small, sickly kitten whose life was going to be short. I got him a doll sized fainting couch and reupholstered it in a cozy plaid flannel in fall colors to match his brown fur and made him a little pillow with a tassel. He liked it, but before he got to be on it Flynn, the big, black alpha cat who, like Elvis, never did anything that wasn’t dignified, came along to inspect it. He was far too big to fit, but he managed to perch on it awkwardly and then, after staring at the tassel for a few minutes, he grabbed it and face palmed it and fell off. I was lucky to get a photo of him smashing the gold tassel into his face. It’s good blackmail, like the picture of the pirate ballerina.

Hello, everybody! I’m here with big news! Today Murka helped me with passion to draw “trailer” and pilot part of BCN Rus! But at first I want to show it to Gorgia and heard from her that she agree with that parody… I don’t want to make her angry. If she’ll say “no”, I will never draw this again.

Any cardboard box coming into our apartment is fair game to be commandeered as Ember’s latest She Shed. Especially if there is packing material inside. Except the air-filled plastic bags. Ember only made that mistake once

When ever we get something in a box we leave it for the cats to see if they want it. We have a collpased and now shreaded box in a window and it is a firm favourite amongst the feline members of the household!
