In this modern day world of helicopter parents and participation awards, are dad’s even allowed to do things like this anymore? Don’t we have to worry about traumatizing the child? My dad used to put on a sheet, and walk around our front yard on Halloween . . . until I got old enough to notice that the ghost was wearing his bedroom slippers. And, heck, I remember the time my friend Linda’s father popped out of their basement Bilco doors wearing a gas mask. I can still hear the screams of all the neighbor kids who were there that day (not to mention the one girl who peed herself.) Good times. Good times.
The Creeping Hand 1963 kept me up a few nights when I was a kid. My brother and I were too scared to even dangle our feet over the bed for fear of being grabbed. We also decided Cheryl, the babysitter who took us to the drive-in with her boyfriend, was the best ever.
I can only recall one other time that Calvin fainted dead away like this, back when he was being examined by a doctor who joked how much the examination was going to hurt but Calvin thought he was serious. Anyone remember any other instances of him passing out?

When my kids were small I used to do stuff like that all the time. After all, isn’t that why we had them!

Dad’s getting even with Calvin for breaking his binoculars and dropping all his stuff in the lake.

Hope dads benefit package has some room for therapy. I did this to one of my kids. And yes, we had benefits.
