I wish it was still “widespread fear of inflation” instead of widespread inflation!

$230 for a tank top is not going to boost the economy. It’s just going to boost the company’s profit by $215. I don’t think Americans need much incentive to spend anyway, so just save your bank account, Cathy, and walk away.

Hello Cathy friends! Happy Monday! Have a great day, all!

“Fast fashion” results in vast junkyards of unsold items which are simply dumped.

The head of one of Canada’s largest grocery chains insists that they are not making large profits on groceries. He says that their record profits are from non-grocery items like clothing etc. So if the stores are not making extra profits from the inflated grocery prices, and we know the farmers are not making extra profits, just who is making all this extra money? Maybe it is the gasoline companies – after all the trucking firms blame higher prices for shipping on fuel charges. Ah well, just very happy I am not on a low fixed income like so many are.

I hope you all have a fine Monday today.

No decade in our nation’s entire history has been immune from some kind of economic turmoil. Yes, things are dicey here still though inflation is easing (and it’s still worse elsewhere in the world than it is here). We could still fall into a recession, but if we do it won’t be a second “great recession” but will be a brief and mild V shaped recession (a sharp drop followed by an equally sharp bounceback) like the 1981-83 recession, instead of the L-shaped recessions (a sharp drop followed by several months or so of stagnation) of 1991-92 and 2008-10. But we’ll see what happens. For now, most of my money is going toward groceries and other essentials instead of clothing.

They handed out money during the pandemic, and now people are spending it. S’prise. And yes, I know some people needed that money to live on, but not everyone did.
