Before our resident trolls open up their maggot mouths: Traitor Trump wanted to run as a pro-choice candidate (the way he did first time around, as a Democrat), but his brain, Steve Bannon, talked him into conning imbeciles by pretending to be pro-life. A bit off-topic of the toon itself, I freely admit. But what’s the ridiculing Traitor Trump and the defending of democracy among friends?
The MAGA South is now a Talibangelical maternity desert, run by old men and cowardly Republicans. y’think we women will go willingly and obediently into the dark? Oh, I don’t think so!! Hear us ROAR!
I love the Easter eggs in this cartoon: deSantis’s boot on the sand, Minnie Mouse in the raft, Wilson on the island, Pizza Rat hiding in the grass. Great stuff!
The following is most of the email sent yesterday from Lois Frankel to her constitutes:
In the first decision, the Court allowed one of the country’s most far-reaching and strictest abortion bans to become law. Starting May 1, abortion will be banned in Florida after six weeks, before many women even know that they are pregnant. Doctors who perform abortions will face potential fines and up to five years in prison. It’s unthinkable, cruel, and dangerous.
In a second decision, the court approved inclusion of an amendment on our state’s ballot this November that, if passed, will establish a right to abortion until fetal viability (approximately 24 weeks) in Florida’s Constitution. That amendment would go into effect in January 2025 and would overrule the six-week ban.
The six-week ban will have a far-reaching impact on women living in the South, as many southern states also ban or severely restrict abortion access. That means thousands of forced pregnancies and endangered lives. And, as doctors fear punishment for providing necessary care for patients and relocate out of state, maternal care will become harder to obtain.
The only good news is that this November, Florida voters will have an opportunity to restore the right to reproductive freedom. Florida Amendment 4, the Right to Abortion Initiative, will require 60 percent approval to pass and ultimately overrule the new six-week ban, enshrining abortion protections into our state’s constitution.
DeSantis and Trump should stage a coup in Cuba. They wouldn’t change a thing about how its run other than to put themselves in charge of everything. Trump could send his well armed supporters in to do it. And if they got slaughtered, he could just deny his involvement and move on. But if they succeeded, the first order of business would be the building of Trump’s Bay Of Pigs Golf Resort and Casino
You know, enshrining women’s rights in the Florida state constitution isn’t enough. Trump and the Republicans want to make a national law against women and their right to choose.
Therefore, while the +60% of women’s rights voters are there, casting their ballots in Florida, you might as well just vote for Joe Biden. Thus giving the state and its 29 Electoral votes for President Biden, pushing him over the top and winning the election before 10:00 p.m. on election night.
I’m several decades past having to worry about an abortion personally, but the abortion issue isn’t even actually about abortion. If they can just wipe out a right we have had for fifty years, what rights are next on the agenda?
When conservatives talk about “freedom” or “liberty,” what they mean is “freedom” for ginormous corporations to run roughshod over the rights of workers, consumers and our shared environment, but want to micromanage and dictate control over every aspect of everyone else’s personal lives.
In reality, conservatives want to take away liberty and freedom from everyone else and micromanage every aspect of others’ private lives.
Conservatives are the ones who want to dictate total control over private relationships (dictate who you can or can’t marry or even what behavior is allowed behind closed doors), private medical choices (reproductive choices such as abortion, IVF or contraception, medical or recreational marijuana, end of life choices, stem cell therapies, gender-identity care), tell us what books we or our children can have access to, or try to force PRIVATE religion into PUBLIC policy and religious rituals into public meetings or subsidize it with special tax advantages (socialized religion).

Aren’t red state women supposed to have a man accompanying them so he can decide what’s best for them?

Red state women would be accompanied by the males who impregnated them, but it’s too embarrassing to bring their fathers, brothers, and uncles along.

Whenever Republicans pass laws restraining abortion they lose, bigly. They still can’t figure out this simple concept.
But in the real world, Cubans have been fleeing here for decades and still continue to do so.
