going even further with the analog tv reception (note the aluminum foil to increase reception) if your tv was getting old, eventually the channel changing knob would strip its gears , forcing you to change channels with a pair of pliers
This is way different on play with words.
My hubby uses probably the right way and I tell him he needs to drop the word. Old habits hard to break.
Me I’m trying to change my ways for more modern. Just my mind isn’t into it.
I live in rural SW Colorado and we still get our TV signals via an earl on the rooftop. Of course, I had to get a new digital HDTV to receive the now digital signals.
Dr. Seuss rhymed “nimbly” with “chimbley” in the original Grinch book, and nobody thought it was destroying the English language or even in any need of translation.
I live in the city where workers used to take a “terlet” break at “tree-toity” every afternoon, and nowadays we actually bemoan that the “real Brooklyn” is mostly dying out …
Rick Detorie has established that he gives due respect to all, even while ridiculing the foibles of all. If I didn’t know that already, I’d think this day’s strip borders on the insulting …

Usually the 2006 One Big Happys don’t seem dated, but the panel on analog TV reception already seems nostalgic.
