On a serious note, banned is banned what ever the book, Everyone has the right, and should have the opportunity, to see it if they wish, and to think âMy God! I wish theyâd banned this book!â
Actually itâs a sh** book and deserves to be buried. Donât ban it. Just let it die, already.
Please. PLEASE let it die.
(Confession: As someone who writes and who is friends with many writers, it seriously bugs my happiness that something as appallingly badly written as this has not only been published, but rocketed to success. It is one of the things which convinces me that the human species is just basically too stupid to live.)
What makes a banned book banned? Who bans it? The federal government? Or some librarian with limited funds who doesnât wnt to waste funds on things she doesnât like? A group of people who get together and say, âDonât teach this at our schoolâ? Obama? Romney? Are there, ahem, shades of banning?
I donât consider a book banned until I can go to jail for reading it or giving/selling it to another adult. Are there such books in the US?
Not all books on the list have been technically âbanned.â Some have been questioned by parents who were concerned about subject matter and the age of their child.
â50 Shadesâ was pulled from the public libraries of Brevard County, FL. After much talk of âcensorshipâ, they have been returned to the lending shelves.

Read a review calling 50 Shades a poor Twilight script. So is that dâ-ning with faint praise?

50 Shades wants to be banned. Itâs a naughty book and needs to be punished.

So if they celebrate the 30th every year, how long have they had this annual tradition.
