    Pab seems a little confused about the use of the tall-s. At the end of a word it becomes a short-s (see his “uns”). Same rules as the handwriting in the Declaration of Independence, which was written before English dropped the tall-s altogether.

    A “Vicar of Dibley” episode involved televising a service, in which the Lessons were read from an old Bible with tall Ss that the lector kept mistaking for Fs – ending with “and He shall give thee…”; the Vicar interrupted with “Succour.”
