Just the other day I was able to use the line “No, no, you’re all confused. The horizon is moving up!” Glad to see there is a lot of Firesign Theater love out there!

The last word in German is “Hoppla”, meaning “oops”, “aha”, or similar.

In my college days, I auditioned for a part in a local production of a Firesign Theater play. THe weird part is that everybody trying out for a part already had all the lines memorized!

And yes, it is from TV Or Not TV – not, strictly speaking, a Firesign album, but not exactly not one, either. Also saw P&B perform live at Summerfest.

According to one of the pictures on the Blackletter page at the Wikipedia, that forst letter in #4 appears to be a Schwabacher H. So the word appears to be Hopple, which is not a German word according to Google translator. So I’m guessing it’s a sound.

Actually, I think the correct translation is “Captain, we can NOT remain under the water any longer” “Very good Otto” “Prepare to surface” “Hoppla” Hoppla means “upsy-daisy”. Like if you were picking up a small child, you’d say, “upsy-daisy”

To the tune of The Mickey Mouse Club Song:

Who’s the one that we all shun who’s bad for you and me?A-T-T-I-L-A T-H E-H U-N!Hey there, hi there, ho there, he’s unwelcome as can be!A-T-T-I-L-A T-H E-H U-N!

Attila the Hun! (Genchis Khan!)*Attila the Hun! (Genghis Khan!)Forever let us hold his banners High! High! High!

Come along and sing our songAnd join the massacree!**A-T-T-I-L-A T-H E-H U-N!

*Yes, I know the two were not comtemporaneous. So what? The original was sung by a bunch of cartoon characters.

**That’s pronounced mass-a-cree’, as in “The Alice’s Restaurant Massacree.”
