Girl: It seems to start after their voice changes but well before their hair turns gray. Meaning really loud nose blowing starts during a man's prime find-a-woman years. Frazz: That's a design flaw. Girl: Sometimes it's sort of easy to understand people who don't get evolution.

So it somehow makes more sense that an “intelligent” designer would have made the design flaw of honking noses?

@little girl. No it isn’t.

Gallagher asked about the nose, “Why would anyone put a wet runny thing like that upside down over your mouth?”

An odd thing about the evolution vs design argument is that both processes end at the same place, with a creature that is reasonably well adapted to its environment. You cannot tell by looking at the end product whether it was the result of intentional design or a self-optimizing variation/selection process. The evidence for evolution is found in the record of things that are no longer adequately adapted to their environment, and therefore gone.

Actually, “blind” faith is not lauded in the Bible. “Informed” faith is. The Bible says a lot about learning and asking “why”. If you talk about “blind” faith, then it shows you need to learn more about what you are criticizing.

The book of Revelation is your mythology; I don’t have to worry about it. :)

Would it not be strange if a universe without purpose accidentally created humans who are so obsessed with purpose?—Sir John Templeton

Goo to you by way of the zoo…I like that! And I will take it over the invisible, judgmental testy guy in the sky.

“I am an honest man. I don’t know about the existence of Abraham’s or any other god and I disbelieve because there is no compelling evidence. Oh, and NOBODY “knows”. Got that? NOBODY.”
Since “NOBODY KNOWS,” shouldn’t you withhold judgement rather than actively disbelieve?

“Flaws” in the human “design” were not present at creation. Sin, disease, and environmental influences have degraded the human genome. .These influences continue to degrade our genome; new genetic diseases continue to manifest. Without the advent of modern medicine, our life expectancy would have continued to nosedive.

My nose honking started in grade school, culminating in English class when I gave a prolonged, prolific blast immediately after another student gave a book report on “Captain Horatio Hornblower”. It brought down the house.

Or design compensation. God knew what He was doing

And He still does.

Yes SHE would, if she existed…..I was wondering, is it just men who were made in God’s image or does God also look like a hottie at the topless beach………I wouldn’t mind hangin’ with God if she was a fabulous babe….

to some people, she came from adam’s rib. if the original design was flawed, then she would have a design flaw.

What gets me isn’t so much the people who don’t believe what I believe but the people who make fun of people who believe what I believe.
How do entropy and evolution work together? You’d think we’d devolve instead of evolve?
coffeemugman almost 12 years ago
Sorry, but hormones (a female’s) trump logic, and the species continues on…evolution is bunk theory with no actual proof.

It could also be that if there is a God, He doesn’t like yes-men.
As for the “no harm is done”…the fact that it was Pascal who came up with the bet is an argument against that proposition. He was arguably the greatest mathematician of probability that ever was, so the fact that he let his Jansenism get in the way of making a proper analysis of the probabilities suggests that belief messes up your ability to think clearly.
That’s not to say that there aren’t true believers in Science, too…for example, those who make the laughable assertion that science is “self-correcting”—to which the proper response is, “That’s an extraordinary claim; where’s your extraordinary evidence”?

My argument against “intelligent design”? Referred pain. (Not the only example available, but anyone who has ever had a kidneystone knows what I mean.)
