Belle has what must be a sketch of some idea for getting away with dastardly deeds and making the “costumed crimefighters” look like clowns. Maybe a counter-costume? Like a big flightless cold-climate bird?
The Penguin has no living brothers, unless the new team is going to change the history of Batman.
Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, the Penguin, murdered his three brothers; Jason, William and Robert. They all attacked him and his birds one night and he retaliated in time. Jason died due to poisoning, William in a hit-and-run, and Robert in a freak accident which left him at the bottom of a frozen lake.
Does anyone have any idea how hard it is to draw a person with their legs crossed like in panel 2 or somebody winking and keeping that character’s face as in panel 1; not to mention draw hands with a pencil between their fingers? JS does the best consistently drawn hands ever. I have been drawing for more years than most of DT readers have been alive. Believe me dats tough. Joe Staton is over the top and probably likes the challenge. Artist wana-a-be just give it a try. :~)
I’m going to go with “Dick Tracy takes place in a universe where there are characters very much like Batman and the Penguin, possibly even sharing their names, but they do not have the same exact history as their DCU counterparts.”
Probably “Gotham” is the only city in the Dick Tracy world with successful costumed crimefighters; everyone else is a cosplayer like Black Piranha and Cinnamon Knight, or the “real hero” types who just do good deeds while wearing a costume as opposed to dangerous and illegal crimefighting.
The parallel universe thing also covers Walt Wallet and any other cameos—people very similar to ones seen elsewhere, but not requiring the same exact history.
I suspect Moon Maid will fly solo. She has likely been on the moon enduring a slow and painful recovery from her injuries. The Governor may have kept her from returning sooner. She never stopped loving Junior, but won’t interfere with the happiness he found after believing her dead. She will become an important part of Honeymoon’s life, appearing now and then to help (and possible rescue) her fabulous daughter. Obviously, my speculation depends upon this being the real Moon Maid (which I believe to be the case).
I don’t believe this Moon Maid is real…. Unless this is going to lead to a kidnapping/inter-World custody battle over Honeymoon, as I said, this is like Back to the Future, in that it would totally screw up the timeline. Another thing, when Gould created the Moon people, he claimed to actually believe there were superior beings on the Moon, well, we now know the only thing up there, is superior ROCKS
Now, on the other hand, if I HAD to find a new BF for Moon Maid, I’d vote for good old Pat Patton, the poor guy has been a lonely bachelor for more than 80 years… and if ANYONE could get his old heart pumping……….
“This “Moon Maid” could be someone tricked up in costume with technology to give her umph.”That’s possible. But to me it seems less and less likely. I read the Yahoo group comments and feel more confident now that Moon Maid is here to stay. Like someone posted yesterday it just makes good business sense if nothing else. But admittedly I could be wrong. One thing’s for sure, Moon Maid has plenty of “UMPH” whether she’s the original or not!
Well, I’ll stick with what I said……from Thor’s Hammer to Hot Rize to BB Eyes to Abner Kadaver to Cueball to Thunderchild to Blackjack to Stilletta to Phishface, as well as through the whole Mr. Crime adventure…..when has an innocent character that Mike has actually developed been killed off? So Pirahna and/or Knight would be the first…..and I’ll stick with my “more lighthearted” comment too…..bringing back the Mole and Littleface as good guys, and having Blackjack basically be kind of one…..also, I think everyone should go back and look at the Mordred comic just to appreciate what a wonderful job Joe is doing as well!

Is this Dick Tracy or Batman?
I mean, what with Broadway being the Penguin’s brother and all.

I wonder what she’s drawn and if this will tie in with the Moon Maid arc somehow.

The modern version of Belle is a WHOLE lot sexier than her 1930s counterpart was!

Belle might be cute, but she’s a scheming crook just like her boyfriend.

Sure it’s Dick Tracy… Broadway Bates is one of Tracy’s oldest enemies ;)

Apparently Tracyville has more than one newspaper. Bate’s is blue rather then purple and orange. Any chance they are named the Bugle and the Planet??
I am enjoying the plot line. As promised, it is Mike’s idea of what would happen is costumed heroes were to appear in the Tracy Universe. Love it.
