For a PSL your children must forfeit their souls if they wish to inherit the seats.

Chiefs’ fans will be glad to sell the souls of everybody in St. Louis for a win (or even a tie…or, what the hell, let’s just sell the souls of everybody in St. Louis for the hell of it!)

This is one of your better strips guys and I have been reading this strip for more than 10 years now. Keep it up. Sports are going to provide you with story lines forever

They are seriously talking about building a new state-of-the-art stadium in Atlanta to replace the present Georgia Dome. (In my opinion, the Georgia Dome, though about 20 years old now, is still a very good football stadium.) The projected price is estimated to be at least $750 million, and probably in the end a lot more. The Atlanta Falcons presently do not have PSLs, but they sure will if and when they move into the new stadium. I’ve already made up my mind that the day the Falcons start charging PSLs is the day I will no longer be a season ticket holder, for the reason today’s cartoon metaphorically alluded to.

And if the NHL cancels their season, are they required to give the souls back?

P.S.L. baby, P.S.L. Give teams that have stadiums built with taxpayer money the chance to charge people for the privilege of then buying season tickets.

Jeff and Bill, one of the best strips I remember ever reading. Well done.

@Alabama_Al, you’d think that people would look at the Miami Marlins’ situation and pump the brakes—hard—before building a new stadium. But the Falcons are winning (if just barely!) right now, so The Powers That Be will probably try to ramrod this through while they can.

Bill Hinds, in a Go Comics interview (on the Comics Blog) celebrating the 50th anniversary of the strip (August 2, 2024):

Do you have a favorite strip that you’ve created? If yes, what one?

Yes—many. I liked the November 25, 2012, Sunday strip where the devil appears in a puff of smoke in the stands of a football game to offer a comeback win in exchange for the souls of the fans. In another puff of smoke, Danny Morton, the team’s VP of season ticket sales, appears to say they have already sold their souls for the season tickets. The frustrated devil disappears. One guy steps up and says, “Jokes on him, I’m in my uncle’s seats.” It was one of the first strips I wrote.
