Mine’s genetically dry, and falls out at the most inopportune times. Always embarrassing me, it is.

Re: racist watercolor on the blog. I couldn’t find anything on-line, but you might contact this museum:

There’s a guided tour of the Jim Crow Museum here:

The picture looks like it might be the front of a postcard. If it seems too risque for the US Post Office, there’s a small collection of similar cards here:

Ah, a classic genetic case study; dry earwax is linked to a either single base substitution of adenine for quanine at position 538 of exon 4 (the very first discovered single nucleotide polymorphism which was known to have a visible phenotypic effect), or a 27-base deletion in exon 29, of the ATP-binding cassette C11 (ABCC11) gene. It hampers a putative antibacterial action of wet earwax, but intriguingly this mutation is also linked to considerably reduced body odor.

Was mentioned in a paper I was reading at the weekend.

    Thrilling stuff.

Mine is smooth and creamy, thank you very much. But it’s all due to willpower, and nothing to do with genetics! I tell you, earwax is all in the mind.

You can bet your sweet ass that you’ll see that again (it’s doesn’t quite rise to the category of “backwoods redneck trash,” but it’s a keeper nevertheless).

Wow! Al Jolson makes an appearance in Frog Applause!

Did you know that earwax is part of your immune system?

I wonder if that animal-killing kid had anything to do with that overturned pig truck. It’s an unsettling juxtaposition, like Dennis the Menace telling his mom he sees her petrified skull.

Linguist almost preempted my comment…Dang, if it’s wet, the earwax candles won’t light. Or maybe they will and there’ll be a cool sputtering effect.

What are the ghostly images in the Dorothy Dandridge photo, in front of the out of focus background and behind the beguiling foreground?
